Villa on View.
Your weekly up-close view of those wow factor extras that make our villas outstanding. After all, attention to detail always makes a difference.
Looking for a little romantic adventure? Jump on the scooter and explore some of Bali’s hidden, picture-perfect beaches.
Green Bowl Beach
Finding this secret gem is not easy, but trust me, it will be worth the effort. After you’ve paid your IDR2,000 entrance fee, you’re in for a serious cardio workout heading down the concrete steps until you reach the beach. Result – your very own private stretch of sand with world-class surf.
It may no longer be quite so hidden, but its stretch of white sand and turquoise waters make Pandawa Beach one of the most beautiful on the island and definitely not as crowded as Seminyak or Kuta. We know a picture speaks a thousand words, so take a look for yourself.
This well-kept, exclusive private beach is a perfect place to spend a romantic day together enjoying the stunning views and soothing sounds of the Indian Ocean. Excellent Mediterranean cuisine is also served here. Entrance fee applies.
Bordered by two cliffs, the skirt of Balangan beach stretches for about 1km. This also means that there are great swells for surfers. An amazing mixture of white and black sands on some spots of the beach, the unique green and dark brown musty stone texture on the shore, and the pond-like hollow spaces filled with clear water (and sometimes with little fish), are among the features you can expect to find in this paradise.
Geger Beach is famous for it’s seaweed. It’s worth peeking in on one of the many seaweed farms nearby after frolicking about in the crystal clear waters.
Nyang Nyang Beach
Another gem requiring some physical activity to reach, but totally worth it. Follow the dirt track close to Uluwatu Temple and keep a lookout for a sign saying “Nyang Nyang Surfing Beach” before alighting the flight of 500 steps that finally open up to the beach. This beach has amazing photo spots.
Nothing beats the heat better than a dip in a cool pool. We splashed through our villa collection to find the best pools for you. Whether your preference is for plunge, infinity-edge, swim-up bars, jacuzzis on the side, a lagoon-style pool in a jungle setting or a lap pool in a traditional Balinese compound, there’s sure to be just the pool for you among our favourites.
Villa Asta – perfect for family fun and pool parties
This dramatic free-form swimming pool is right at the villa’s heart. There’s shallow tiers for wallowing and a deep section for taking dips from a diving platform. And next to the master bedroom pavilion, the 12-metre plunge pool is an extra bonus.
Villa Mana – tropical paradise
With stunning uninterrupted rice-field and Mount Agung views (best at sunset), this amazing 17-metre infinity pool – surrounded by fragrant frangipani trees, hanging gardens and swaying coconut trees – will leave you speechless.
Villa Batujimbar – traditional Bali style
With a grand ‘Bali style’ design pedigree and a celebrity houseguest list that includes monarchs and rock legends this is one of the most desirable estates in Bali. Top that with a stunning azure pool stretched out alongside the traditional Lembu Bale and you’ll have a Balinese dream come true.
The Layar Designer Villas & Spa – garden bliss with jacuzzi on the side
Picture yourself reclining on a sun lounger next to a freeform pool in a lush garden setting. Now add a cozy jacuzzi on the side and a glass of bubbly delivered by the butler and you have yourself a luxury retreat at its best.
Sungai Tinggi Beach Villa – picture perfect with ocean views
If you’re after a pool that’s not only cool and refreshing, but also makes an AMAZING backdrop for your holiday snaps, Sungai Tinggi’s 18-metre pool is perfect for you. Plus it has stunning ocean views. What else could you wish for? Come on down and show off that holiday bikini!
We are in love with this whimsical establishment on Jalan Kayu Aya, with its unique facade made from coloured glass louvers. The interior is no less enticing: a turquoise timber bar lined with high white stools and washed wood tables dotted with mason jars sprouting fresh wildflowers and matched with colorful metal chairs. At night tiny twinkle lights are lit to create a cozy place perfect for a catch up with friends or a romantic date.
Food is healthy yet hearty. For breakfast, choose eggs your way; add favourite sides and complement with fresh fruit juice, or opt for super-food quinoa & chia seed coconut milk porridge with grilled banana, pistachios and goji berries. Sea Circus coffee brings not only a good dose of caffeine but also daily motivation. An inspiring quote printed on a cute piece of paper, a fragrant frangipani flower and a cookie accompanies every Kintamani Arabica coffee served here.
Lunch and dinner menus are spiced with favourites including snapper ceviche, marinated pork tacos, beetroot and orange salad with feta and toasted hazelnuts washed down with tantalizing margaritas, signature Bloody Mary’s or tropical cocktails ready to be shared from glass milk jars.
If you are on the go, grab take-away coffee and incredible gelato.
Sea Circus is busy all day long. While they don’t take reservations for breakfast and lunch, dinner bookings can be made at +62 361 738 667.

Have you ever looked enviously at someone else’s wedding photos and thought “What a blast – wish I could have been there”? That’s how we felt about Danni and Jon’s wedding.
We know a picture speaks a thousand words, so take a look for yourself.
Thank you, Danni and Jon, for sharing your wedding pictures with us. Photos by Julian Wainwright.
Held at Villa Sungai Tinggi in Bali’s increasingly popular Canggu district, the soft white wedding hues stood out perfectly against the backdrop of rolling green lawns dotted with fragrant frangipanis and swaying coconut palms hugging the landscape’s natural contours. The beautiful sunset ceremony was followed by an intimate dinner under fairy light canvas and a party to remember. And we won’t be forgetting the bride’s dramatic, glamorous dress anytime soon.
