Detox, Rejuvenate, Repeat

in Wellness by

For some, the start of a new year is synonymous with change. A healthier lifestyle (not surprisingly) is usually at the top of the New Year’s resolution list. Let’s be honest, there is no quick fix to cleanse your body of all those 2016 toxins.

What you need are few small steps which can be easily implemented in your life – immediately. If you plan to spend a luxurious summer holiday in one of our villas in Bali, what kind of lifestyle changes can you make while you continue to enjoy your vacation?

1. Eat more vegetables and fruits

Bali is blessed with plenty of tropical fruits all year round. Take a stroll to the traditional markets (pasar in Indonesian) or supermarkets and you will easily find piles of bananas, oranges or avocados. To incorporate more vegetables and fruits in your diet, try to drink a glass of mixed juice with breakfast or eat a variety of fruits as an afternoon snack. It is a lot easier than you thought.

2. Hire a private yoga and meditation instructor

Have you always wanted to try yoga or meditation but don’t know where to start? Why not hire a private instructor. Not only a one-to-one session is a brilliant way to familiarise yourself with the techniques, you also receive a personalised guidance and get to practice in the comfort of your surroundings.

3. Move more

We all know the importance of exercising regularly. If the thought of running on a treadmill or hitting balls on the private tennis court is not your thing, there is always another fabulous option – the swimming pool. Jump into the inviting pool, swim few laps or just walk (yes, walk) in the pool. You don’t even have to break a sweat. Promise.

4. Get spa treatments

From relaxing Balinese massages to deep-tissue massages, our in-house specialists will help you drift to serenity, engage your senses and relax your body with a variety of spa treatments – gentle body scrubs, mani-pedis, facials – a session within the privacy of your villa is guaranteed to rejuvenate you.

5. Repeat all the above steps.

Glow Like a Goddess on Day One

in Tips by

Fancy being able to flaunt a beautiful golden vacation glow on day one of your holiday rather than the ‘roasted tomato look’ that so often results after first exposure to the unforgiving tropical sun? We’ve got a solution for you – organic spray tan on arrival in the privacy of your own villa.

What is Eco Tan?

Eco Tan spray tan is 100% organic, vegan and made only from natural ingredients. This means no synthetic colours, parabens, alcohol, oil, perfume are extremely harmful to your beautiful skin. To top this up its also odour–free. Your tan will be long lasting and fade evenly, because it intensively hydrates the skin. It also disguises cellulite and blemishes to produce an evenly toned body. What else could you wish for?

Make it Happen

Just let your villa manager know you would like Tan On Arrival and they will organise it for you. Allow 12 hours notice or pay a little extra and get it done immediately. Alternatively, book online at https://tanonarrival.com/booking/.

One session costs USD47. Surrender to the experts of Tan on Arrival in the privacy of your villa bathroom and come out glowing like a goddess.

5 Most Polished Seminyak Nail Salons

in Wellness by

You’re on holiday! Time to relax, rejuvenate and pamper yourself to pieces. Give your hands and feet a special treat at one of these top Seminyak nail parlours.

Spring Spa Seminyak

#1 SPRING SPA

Everything at Spring Spa is chilled. White-pitched ceilings, a DJ spinning tunes from his second-level booth, super-comfy reclining chairs and a hip New York vibe. This is the go-to venue for sensational shellac.

Spring Spa is the tropical child of New Zealand mother business by the same name – and boasts the same great menu and high service standard.

Try the hot milk and almond pedicure, where your silky just-buffed feet are soaked in hot whole milk before being rubbed with mega-moistening almond oil. This hour-long treatment is so lushly gentle that it sends guests to cloud nine, so don’t be surprised if you doze off while being stroked, massaged and painted with shellac that lasts very well in the humid heat of Bali.

If time is short, drop in for a 15-minute file + paint for Rp75,000, or even just a clip + buff for Rp50,000 – very popular with the gents.

Seminyak has two Spring Spas – one in Seminyak Village and another opposite the W Retreat on Petitenget. One more coming to Canggu, Bali is in the planning stages.

 AMO Spa Seminyak

#2 AMO SPA

Amo Spa in Petitenget, the brainchild of native New York supermodel/actress Navia Nguyen, never fails when it comes to consistency and quality.

Magazine racks spill over with the latest issues of Gourmet Traveller and Vogue straight from Australia, so be sure to grab a few to browse from your comfy chair. You can also charge up your phone while you’re there, but leave some room on the armrest for a tropical cocktail or a hot coffee and cookie from the cute mini café.

Then just sit back and slip your feet into a warm-water soak (dressed up with a sprinkling of pretty petals). Completely zen out while the nail experts create masterpieces on your fingers and toes, and get an amazing shoulder massage while your nails are drying.

There’s also AMO Express on Jalan Basangkasa and a mobile service if you’d prefer some in-villa pampering.
